“Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?”
(Les Miserables, “Do You Hear the People Sing – Epilogue”. Lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, music by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, based on the novel by Victor Hugo)
The crescendo of this powerful rendition raised goosebumps on my arms and brought a tearful smile to my face. In that moment, I was reminded of what theatre was all about. The magic of illusion, be it on stage or on the screen, was brought home to me. I wanted to act. More than anything, I wanted it. That’s when I made my choice.
I dreamed the dream.
“It is the future that they bring when tomorrow comes......”
